The Journey Begins...

Both Kendi and Thomas teamed up for a wonderful 9 months. We found out we were pregnant around the middle of September, 2008. We had just sold our house in Westerville and were residing in a temporary apartment in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Kendi took two separate pregnancy tests and gave me the news when I came home from work. We were both very excited.

We scheduled an appointment and ultrasound on October 24, 2008, in Westerville, which was the day before the Penn State-Ohio State game in Columbus. We received our first pictures (and proof) of Thomas during this visit:



We enjoyed the Penn State game despite the 13-6 loss...we knew we had something special on the way.



The hard part was keeping the secret until Christmas. The holidays were the perfect time to break the news: we knew we'd be home in Ohio around this time, we'd be seeing many of our family and friends, and Kendi would most likely start showing in January.

We told the Harps at the Corcoran Christmas at my Mom and Dad's house by giving them a calendar with Thomas's due date and ultrasound picture in it. We did the same the following morning at the Clark's house. Of course, everyone was super-excited. Now that our families were included, we felt an increased sense of pride and excitement ourselves.
